About

Built by someone who has to follow the same rules you do

Freehold Agents started in a pharmacy, not a software incubator. The founder spent years as a pharmacist. In that job patient information is protected by federal law, “I pasted it into a website” is a reportable event, and every vendor promising to fix your workflow wants a monthly fee and your data in their cloud.

Then the AI tools got good enough to do real work: answer phones, chase paperwork, sort an inbox. But every mainstream way to use them meant routing patients’ and customers’ information through somebody else’s servers, under terms that change with an email titled “We’re updating our policies.”

So he built the alternative for himself first. A Start9 hub. A local GPU for open-weight models. Cloud APIs kept on a short leash, metered, used as a tool. Agents wired to the calendar, the inbox, and the books, with everything sensitive staying on machines he could point at. It worked — and it kept working when vendors pivoted and prices rose. He wrote the field manual for it at personaldatacenter.xyz. Freehold Agents exists to install that same setup, hardened, documented, and maintained, for other owner-operated businesses.

The name is from property law. A freehold is ownership outright. A leasehold is paying, forever, for something that was never yours. Every AI product on the market wants to be your landlord. We’d rather hand you the deed.

We run what we sell

This company runs on the stack it sells. Our books, our schedule, our client files, and the agents that manage them live on our own servers in Omaha. When we recommend a configuration, it’s because we run it. This website collects almost nothing, on purpose; the privacy policy is short and you can read it in a minute.

What we hold to

Ownership
You own the hardware, the models, and the data. It says so in the contract, not just the marketing. A system should outlive its vendor, including us.
Plain dealing
Fixed prices in writing. Ranges published on the website. If agents won’t pay for themselves in your shop, the blueprint says so and we shake hands.
Things that keep working
We build the way the people we grew up around bought equipment: for the decade, not the demo. Boring, patched, backed up, documented.
